Aquaculture Feed Industry Expands Rapidly Amid Rising Domestic Demand

In October, Bangladesh’s aquaculture feed industry reported a growth rate exceeding 12%, reflecting strong
domestic demand for commercial feed in carp, tilapia, and catfish production. Private companies introduced
nutrient-balanced, floating pellets to improve feed conversion ratios and reduce wastage.
The government encouraged private investment in feed manufacturing and quality testing through
public–private partnerships. Industry analysts noted that improved feed efficiency contributed to better growth
performance, reduced production cost, and higher farmer profitability.
Despite the progress, small-scale farmers were urged to verify feed authenticity and avoid counterfeit or
substandard products that could compromise fish health.
